We Moved the Stove, and Now They Love It!
This family are long time residents in the coveted town of Bolton, MA. One of the main reasons for remodeling the kitchen was that the Mrs. hated cooking on the stove in the island in the center of the room. It was not only a challenge to keep clean, it was more or less the focal point coming through the front door.
She was hesitant about going with the circular mullion doors when she first saw the design, but said she is now “delighted” that she can see them as she comes through the front door. They are a focal point with interest and make a design statement. Favorites are the pullout spice storage, microwave in the island, along with tray cabinet storage and double trash. There is also a handy spice drawer right of the range and the floating shelves have become a handy location for easy to grab bowls, cooking oils, and ramekins.
We also relined the old wire shelving pantry with sold shelves, improving the storage use there. A final touch was working with the homeowner who was struggling with the paint color, and we helped them choose “Benjamin Moore Gray Owl OC-52,” as it best offered a subtle blend between the Nordic White and the Navy on the cabinets.
Previously, they had thought about moving, as they are soon to be empty nesters, but now their space is freshly updated and they are going to stay put and enjoy it as their budding family continues to come and go. In this uncertain high market, they could have “listed” it, but they decided to “love it” instead.
