Sterling, MA Family Gets the Kitchen of Their Dreams
This couple from Sterling, MA has a beautiful home and yard to raise their family. They are located on a quiet street surrounded by woods, wildlife, apple orchards, and are just a stone’s throw away from the town’s best ice cream establishment. So what was missing? The kitchen of their dreams.
They wanted a kitchen that would help them entertain guests and an island big enough to bake, prep meals and that would provide them with plenty of storage. As the children grow older, that island will be used as mom and dad prep the meals and the kids do their homework. With their dream in mind, a large 4 ft x 10 ft island was added to the plan and became a reality.
In addition to the big counter, there is plenty of cabinet storage. In fact, underneath hidden by the 4 bar stools is “seasonal storage” for those items used a few times a year but that still need a safe convenient place. This kitchen now has plenty of drawers and state of the art appliances. And how about pantry storage? Check out the two 36” wide pantry cabinets with roll out shelves built right into the wall where an existing closet used to be. A wet bar was also added, so while one person preps the dinner for the guests, the other can be out of the way mixing drinks. A perfect setup!
Having an aesthetically pleasing kitchen is just as important as the functionality. Benjamin Moore “Linen White” paint was the chosen finish for the perimeter cabinets. This was a nice contrast to the Walnut wood island and range hood with a “Boubon” finish, which gives the space that touch of elegance.
In the adjacent room, a custom mud room was created so when everyone comes in from outdoor play or from school, coats, hats, boots and backpacks can be stored without cluttering the kitchen and other rooms in the house.
Now this family has the kitchen of their dreams; a perfect kitchen to compliment the perfect house on the perfect quiet street!!
