Making Room For Coffee
The homeowners lived in this Marlborough, MA house with the original built kitchen from 1985. When the thought of the renovation came up, the couple had many decisions, ideas and compromises.
They found many inadequacies in their existing kitchen, as the Mrs thoroughly enjoyed cooking. The original refrigerator was so deep and was located by the dining room door, so no one could enter when the door was open. The fridge was relocated to the left, adding a wonderful “coffee station” with glass uppers, a favorite spot in the morning for this couple!
The is now a return peninsula, adding more countertop work space. The back double French door was reduced to a single to make room for this addition and the last upper cabinet is turned outward, toward the door with the convenience of a “charging station outlet” inside. We removed the existing two separate pantry closet doors and replaced it with large, recessed pantry cabinets with five rollouts per bottom section. This allows for more storage and easy access. Everything is now in plain site.
All in all, this new kitchen makes for a happy couple, and a happy kitchen life!
