Custom Cape Cod Kitchen Renovation
This Massachusetts couple are repeat customers of Kitchen Associates. We were happy to roll out the red carpet for them when they asked for help at their summer home in Eastham, MA on Cape Cod. They had hired a contractor on the Cape to build an addition and a new kitchen was included in the scope of work.
The project began with a trip down to the Cape once the framing was up. It happened to be the coldest day of the winter, a balmy 5 degrees! Whilst workers huddled around an outdoor fire, the homeowner lovingly offered us gloves, as we tried to hold the tape measure. We often say, “kitchen renovations are not for the faint of heart!”
The couple's choice of cabinetry was “Brookhaven” frameless in the “Edgemont” recessed panel door with a “Nordic White” paint finish on maple. The countertop chosen was “Costa Esmeralda” granite.
We worked together to create an open floor plan. With high ceilings, the homeowners wanted just a sprinkling of wall cabinets to keep an open and airy feel. A “prep” sink was added to the island for “two cook use.” There are open shelves in the island for cook books and a stunning stainless chimney hood above the gas range. A convenient “pot filler” faucet was installed behind the stove to save steps for the cook.
The homeowners did a wonderful job with their design accoutrements; antiques and a “great catch” grace the wall and above the cabinets. They now have a great space to go kick back, pick up some “lobstah,” put it in a pot and call friends over. May they enjoy their wonderful kitchen for many years to come!
